Research

Every dollar we receive enables us to fund important research.  The Laura Crandall Brown Foundation is the only nonprofit organization in the state of Alabama whose research focus is exclusively dedicated to early detection of ovarian cancer.  To date, we have funded more than $400,000 towards this cause.

Awareness

Every seventeen minutes a woman dies from a gynecologic (GYN) cancer.  In total, more than 110,000 women will be diagnosed this year, and 32,000 will die.  GYN cancers affect women of all ages, and every woman is at risk for developing a GYN cancer.  Cervical cancer is the only GYN cancer with an effective, reliable screening test for early detection.  Without a test, awareness is best.  LCBF works to increase awareness about GYN cancers and their signs and symptoms by educating communities, as well as encourage women to know their bodies and what is normal for them.

Support

No one should face a life-threatening illness alone.  Our CanSurvive GYN Cancer Support Group provides emotional, educational, and direct financial support to hundreds of women with GYN cancers as well as their loved ones.  Additionally, our Woman-to-Woman Program offers one-on-one mentoring.
