The YABs are young professionals who want to carry on the memory of Laura Crandall Brown and her wishes to help fight ovarian cancer. Their goal is to hold different fundraising events that are both fun and beneficial.
Leading the planning committee are Kim Cholewinski and Roy Sims. According to Sims, "Helping put this event together has been the best way to honor and remember Laura and her wishes. Until a reliable blood test can be developed, we want all women to know the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer. Through awareness and talking with your doctor, more ovarian cancer can be caught early. That's what we are trying to let people know. That's what Laura would have wanted." Proudly, all proceeds from the event will help in raising awareness and funding research to find an early detection method for ovarian cancer.
Decorations were rustic and nautical with an Asian flair tastefully arranged by the committee members. In addition to a spontaneous and lively costume contest sponsored by the Crandall family, The Vegabonds and DJ Rafa provided evening's the entertainment. Jim N Nick's provided loads of delicious tacos and barbeque. Visit the Young Advisory Board section of the website for photos from the event.

The Laura Crandall Brown Ovarian Cancer Foundation was founded in December 2009 in honor of Laura who expressed her desire to be able to help others afflicted by ovarian cancer. Through her foundation, we strive to carry out Laura's legacy, which is our mission to raise awareness and fund research specifically in the area of early detection.
