Thousands will show their support of ovarian cancer by wearing the color teal on Friday, September 2.  In 2010, President Obama proclaimed September to be National Ovarian Cancer Month.  Teal is the designated color of ovarian cancer awareness.

Ovarian cancer is the fifth most fatal cancer in women primarily due to vague symptoms that are difficult to detect.  When detected early, the survival rate is excellent, but sadly more than 70% of women will not be diagnosed until the disease is in advanced stages.  One in 70 women will develop ovarian cancer during their lifetime.  More than 22,000 American women are diagnosed with the disease each year, and about 13,500 women die annually from it.

The Laura Crandall Brown Ovarian Cancer Foundation is dedicated to educating women of all ages and funding research for early detection of ovarian cancer.  Please visit our website for more information.
