The Laura Crandall Brown Ovarian Cancer Foundation is gearing up for Choreography for a Cause, a dance exhibition that will showcase talent from some of the finest young dancers and dance programs in Alabama. The exhibition will be held at Vestavia Hills High School on Sunday, March 11th, at 2:30 p.m. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Laura Crandall Brown Ovarian Cancer Foundation.

Ovarian cancer affects girls and women of all ages, with vague and often difficult-to-recognize symptoms. Laura Crandall Brown was only 26 years old and had only been married for 13 months when ovarian cancer took her life. The mission of The Laura Crandall Brown Ovarian Cancer Foundation is to provide funding in support of research for the early detection and treatment of ovarian cancer. It is imperative that we bring awareness and educate the public about this silent killer. By focusing on early detection - We have the chance to fight it, to beat it, to live!

Choreography for a Cause is not a dance competition, but an opportunity to highlight high school and middle school dance teams, dance studios, and other dance groups or individuals across our state, while at the same time recognizing and celebrating the funds raised to support ovarian cancer research and education. Top fund-raising groups will be recognized and awarded for their efforts. The group that raises the most will receive a full-page ad in Birmingham Magazine!

In today’s world, it is critical that we help our young people develop the desire to serve and give back to their communities. Our hope is that Choreography for a Cause will provide participating dancers an outlet for community service and build in them a lifetime desire to help others.

We hope Choreography for a Cause will become one of the largest fund-raising events in our area to support ovarian cancer research, but we can’t make that happen without your help!
