The Laura Crandall Brown Ovarian Cancer Foundation announces the 4th Annual Head Over Teal 5k/1 Mile Fun Run and Family Day to be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013, at the Preserve in Hoover.  Pre-registration is available by visiting our website at www.thinkoflaura.org/headoverteal and following the links. Those who simply want to support our mission may create a fundraising page or donate from the website as well. This year's event features a new course, optional chip timing and tech shirts, special prices for team registrants, and new features for our adult participants. Good People Brewery will be providing local ale, Little Caesar's great pizza, and we will have live music provided by a local band.

Onsite registration will be available at 7:00 AM the day of the race; however, discounted prices are available for all who sign up prior to September 1, 2013. The 5k Run begins at 8 a.m. and 1 mile fun walk immediately follows.

The Head Over Teal 5K event is family friendly.  For those into exercising, you can choose a 5k Run/Walk or a one mile fun run. There will be fun for everyone - children's inflatable games, face painting, crafts, and live music throughout the day. Picnics on the green are welcome and food and beverages will be sold on site.  Pets on leashes are welcome.

There is no reliable early detection test for ovarian cancer. If it is caught early, it can be successfully treated in 90+% of the cases. However, most patients are diagnosed in the later stages when it's more difficult to treat. The Laura Crandall Brown Ovarian Cancer Foundation was established in 2010 by family and friends of Laura Crandall Brown who died of ovarian cancer in December of 2009. Our mission is to fund research to find a reliable diagnostic tool to detect ovarian cancer in it's earliest stages and to raise awareness to the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer.
