September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. As a part of our mission, the Foundation strives to reach out to groups to provide more information on the signs and symptoms of ovarian and gyn cancers. We were fortunate to be able to do just that on Thursday, September 4, as we traveled to Ozark to address the St. John's Womens Club. St. John's invited members of the Dothan Deanery which is comprised of ladies from Enterprise, Eufaula and Andalusia to join them for our presentation. Approximately 25 were in attendance including the pastor of St. John's, Father Fred Boni. This wonderful luncheon featured tables decorated in various themes for the meeting. A delicious meal of salad, pulled pork and potatoes with all the fixins was served to all who attended.

Mrs. Crandall's presentation began with a brief video which included comments and discussions by ovarian cancer patients, their families and a doctor who specializes in treatment of women with these diseases. She went through a brief presentation afterwards which reiterated many of the points made in the video and then answered questions posed by participants. One of the ladies in attendance commented, "I don't have a question but I think you are a very brave and amazing woman!" Mrs. Crandall was gratified and responded that her devotion to carrying out Laura's wishes keeps her focused on a more positive way of recovering from her loss.

St. John's presented Mrs. Crandall with a donation at the end of her presentation. The Dothan Deanery also presented a check to support the Foundation's mission. We are so grateful to have had this opportunity to spread awareness to these ladies and men thanks to the outreach by St. John's.
