As a part of our mission, the Foundation strives to reach out to groups to provide more information on the signs and symptoms of ovarian and gyn cancers. On October 20, Cecilia Crandall, mother of Laura Crandall Brown, and Kelly Rice, a 13-year ovarian cancer survivor, were privileged to address the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary Group at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Hoover, Alabama. Approximately 20 women were in attendance including members and guests. A delicious meal of salad, chili and pound cake were served just prior to the presentation.

Mrs. Crandall's presentation began with a brief video which included comments and discussions by ovarian cancer patients, their families and a doctor who specializes in treatment of women with these diseases. She went through a brief presentation afterwards which reiterated many of the points made in the video answering questions posed by attendees. Kelly Rice, a former oncology nurse and survivor, provided her own feedback based on her experience. Mrs. Rice, a mother of two, also shared her own story at the end of the presentation giving everyone a new perspective on how this disease affected her life and the lives of her family during the discovery of ovarian cancer and the treatment which followed.

Fern Davis, President of the Ladies Auxiliary, presented Mrs. Crandall with a generous donation at the end of her presentation. We are so grateful to have had this opportunity to spread awareness to these ladies during their monthly meeting.

If your group would like to request a speaker for your meeting or gathering, please contact us via our online speakers request form. There is no charge for this service and we will travel to present to your group.
