The Laura Crandall Brown Foundation announces the 6th Annual Head Over Teal 10K, 5K & 1 Mile Run and Family Fun Day to be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at the Preserve in Hoover.  Head Over Teal is a family friendly event consisting of a 5k Run that begins at 8 a.m. and a 1 mile fun walk immediately following.  This year will include a new 10k course for those who are up for a real challenge. Participants will enjoy beer, great pizza from Little Caesar's, and live music provided by a local band.  The event will also include fun activities for all ages, including children’s inflatable games, face painting, crafts, and more.  Picnics on the green are welcome and food and beverages will be sold on site.  Pets on leashes are welcome.  The LifeSouth blood mobile will be at the event for those who would like to give the gift of life-giving blood.  Parking and a free shuttle service will be available from Prince of Peace Catholic Church on Preserve Parkway beginning at 6:45 AM on race day.

Pre-registration is available by visiting www.thinkoflaura.org/HeadOverTeal and following the links.  On-site registration will be available at 7:00 AM the day of the race; however, discounted prices are available for all who sign up prior to September 1, 2015.  The race will feature chip timing and special prizes for team registrants.  Those who simply want to support our mission may create a fundraising page or donate through the website as well.

There is no reliable early detection test for ovarian cancer. If it is caught early, it can be successfully treated in 90+% of the cases. However, most patients are diagnosed in the later stages when the disease is more difficult to treat. The Laura Crandall Brown Foundation was established in 2010 by family and friends of Laura Crandall Brown who died of ovarian cancer in December of 2009. Our mission is offering hope through research for early detection of ovarian cancer, empowering communities through gynecologic cancer awareness, and enriching lives through support.

The Laura Crandall Brown Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. All donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

For more information about the Foundation or to register, visit www.thinkoflaura.org.
