On September 12th, the 6th Annual Head Over Teal event was held at The Preserve in Hoover, benefiting the Laura Crandall Brown Foundation.  The ladies of the Lambda Eta Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho honored the organization’s mission by making a special donation prior to the event.  Sigma Gamma Rho’s members strive to enhance the quality of within the community, and the organization has a proud legacy of providing positive and proactive community leadership and support.

“My maternal grandmother, Mary Lee Brooks, passed away from ovarian cancer on May 25, 2008. Awareness of this is something that I take to heart because I lost someone so special to me,” shared Jermeisha Purdie, a member of Lambda Eta Sigma Chapter.  Ms. Purdie and Marshae Walker-Black were on site to present the group’s generous check to the foundation.  “Lambda Eta Sigma reached out to our foundation to share with us their passion for our work,” says Jim Crandall, Board President.  “We are honored to have them as a partner in our community.”
