The Laura Crandall Brown Foundation (LCBF) is pleased to announce Brookwood Baptist Health as the presenting sponsor of its 7th Annual Head Over Teal 5K/10K & Fall Festival.

“Brookwood Baptist Health is proud to again partner with the Laura Crandall Brown Foundation for this year’s Head Over Teal event,” said Brookwood Baptist Health President & CEO Keith Parrott. “It is a true honor to unite with a group who is also dedicated to restoring and advocating for good health to those in our local communities.”   Head Over Teal is a family and pet friendly race with a 5K, 10K, and1 mile fun run/walk.  The event will also include a fun array of Fall festival activities for all ages, including games, children’s inflatables, face painting, crafts, and more.  This year’s event is set to take place on Saturday, September 24, 2016, at The Preserve in Hoover.

“We are thrilled to have the support of Brookwood Baptist Health as the presenting sponsor for this year’s race,” said Mary Anne King, LCBF Executive Director.  “The event is a huge hit with families, but more importantly, the funds raised enable us to continue our important programs of early detection research, GYN cancer awareness, and support for patients and their families.”

Online registration is available by visiting www.ThinkOfLaura.org/HeadOverTeal and following the links.  For mobile users, visit our registration page directly at www.ThinkOfLaura.org/Register. About the Laura Crandall Brown Foundation:

More than 90,000 women will be diagnosed with a gynecologic (GYN) cancer this year and almost 30,000 will die.  These include cervical, ovarian, uterine/endometrial, vaginal, and vulvar cancers.  Alabama ranks in the top 5 of states for both cervical and ovarian cancer deaths, and there is no early detection/screening test for four out of five GYN cancers.  LCBF focuses on early detection research, awareness education, and support services for GYN cancer patients and families.

Since our founding in 2009 we have:

  • granted more than $275,000 for ovarian cancer early detection research
  • educated thousands of community members on gynecologic cancers, and
  • provided emotional, educational, and financial support to thousands of GYN cancer patients and their loved ones.
