You're Invited to the

Remember. Inspire. Celebrate.

Tuesday, October 17th

Red Hills Brewery in Homewood

6:00 - 8:00 pm

What is The Celebration of Life?  It is an opportunity for all those who have been affected by GYN cancers to come together as a community to celebrate life and lives and to interact with one another.  It’s hosted by the CanSurvive GYN Cancer Support Group of the Laura Crandall Brown Foundation.

The format this year will include music, fellowship, and then patients, survivors, and families briefly sharing their “After Diagnosis”/”Legacy” stories in 6-10 sentences.  (See examples here: Memorial or Legacy or Survivor.)  This will be a time for us to share our memories and personal accomplishments.  All those attending are welcome to participate.

Food/drinks:.  There will be free food from Jim & Nick’s and soft drinks.

Who is invited?  Patients, survivors, family members, friends, those who lost loved ones, physicians, nurses, and all members of the healthcare team. We request you to RSVP through this link so we can have a count of people planning to attend.

FAQ:

Why wasn’t this planned for September?  Many folks are involved in various awareness activities — teal lightings, speaking, accepting proclamations, and Head Over Teal — and having this in October seemed like it would be a good way to wrap up those efforts.

A bit of history: From 2012-2015, we had a Lighting Ceremony at a location that was being lit in teal for Awareness Month kickoff.  Although fun and well-attended by the GYN cancer community, this became increasingly expensive.  We felt like we needed to change to an event that was free and reallocate some resources for additional teal lighting throughout the state.  In 2016 this ceremony was renamed Celebration of Life.
