Mrs. Jennifer Smiley

Jennifer is a native of Birmingham, Alabama. She attended Samford University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She began her career in retail and the hospitality industry, specializing in accounting, human resources and customer service training. Jennifer worked extensively in hotel management until joining Benefield & Hamner, CPA’s in 2006. Her focus in the firm is on client services management, office management, corporate monthly accounting, sales, payroll, property and individual taxes. She still has ties to the hospitality industry as she continues to do the new hire training for a nationally branded local hotel.  Jennifer is a recipient of the President’s Award and prestigious Ed Phillipy Management Award from Promus Hotels, Inc.

Jennifer has always had a heart for volunteering even going back to her school days when she was a Peer Counselor. Her past volunteer work includes Boy Scouts of America, Chapel in the Pines Presbyterian Church and serving as Vice President & volunteer scheduling coordinator for the Pelham Band Boosters.

Jennifer lost her mother to fallopian tube cancer in 2009. She has served in the offices of Treasurer and Vice President of the CanSurvive GYN Cancer Support Group over the past 7 years before they merged with the foundation in 2015. Jennifer was a member of CanSurvive’s speaker’s bureau and created the Junior Board for the CanSurvive group. She now serves in the position of Treasurer on the Executive Board of the Laura Crandall Brown Foundation, and spends much of her free time actively seeking ways to enrich the patient’s lives, creating an awareness of gynecologic cancers, and serving on event committees for fundraising, awareness and patient support.  

Jennifer and her husband, Criss who has also been an active volunteer, have three children-Lillian, Emily, & Ben and one grandson, Daniel.
